Videos – Australian Stage Shows

(Warren Fahey) Over the years I have been involved in several stage shows either as writer, producer or performer. My earliest stage show was in the 1950s when I performed in a school stage production of ‘Oklahoma’ – I played a waving wheat! It’s been all downhill since then!

My five most memorable productions:

The Australian Spotlight at the 2006 Festival Celtique, Lorient, Brittany, where, with an illustrious cast including Mara!, John Williamson, Claymore, The Larrikins and two wonderful Aboriginal dancers, I told the Australian story. Video by Rebel Penfold Russell.

Down The Lawson Track. At the National Library of Australia Theatre with Martyn Wyndham-Read, Clare O’Meara, Marcus Holden and my fellow narrator, Bill Gammage. The recording of this show is available in the site’s concert section.

Dead Men Talking. Max Cullen and I, as Henry Lawson and Banjo Paterson, toured this wonderful two-man play right across Australia for nearly five years and notched up well-over 250 performances. Thanks to Wayne Richmond for the video which was filmed at a packed Teacher’s Federation Theatre in Sydney.

Dead Men Laughing. Again, I teamed up with Max Cullen to tell the story of two of Australia’s best-known humorists, Lenny Lower and ‘Mo’ Roy Rene. We did a few performances before we released, with horror, that the majority of Australians knew nothing of these two brilliant men. Oh, well. Back to the drawing boards! I played Roy ‘Mo’ Rene.

I Don’t Go Shearing Now. In 2023 I teamed up again with Martyn Wyndham-Read and Clare O’Meara and toured this celebration of the golden era of shearing – it was great fun. Thanks to Wayne Richmond  for the video. Filmed at Humph Hall, Allambie Heights.

Our very first night!
